Copyright Policy
Sonar Distribution respects copyright and neighbouring rights. Distribution is allowed only for Content the User is entitled to exploit. This Policy describes infringement notices (including a DMCA-compatible process under 17 U.S.C. § 512) and what we do next.
1. User obligations
By uploading a release you confirm that you have the right to distribute the sound recording, performance, composition (where applicable), artwork, and metadata in all claimed territories. Samples, covers, beats, and third-party images need licences. Infringement may lead to takedown, frozen payouts, account deletion, and damages.
2. How to send a rights-holder complaint
Email [email protected] with the subject «Copyright». Include:
- the name and contact details of the rights holder or authorised agent;
- a description of the work and a URL or other data that lets us find the material in the Service (artist, release title, UPC/ISRC);
- a statement of good-faith belief that the use is not authorised;
- a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act;
- a physical or electronic signature.
Knowingly false notices may give rise to liability. We may forward the complaint to the User and to stores.
3. What we do
If a notice is substantially complete, we may hide or take down the material, pause related distribution and payouts, and ask the User for proof of rights. We may apply a repeat-infringer policy, up to deleting the account.
4. Counter-notice
If your material was removed in error, email [email protected] a counter-notice: your contacts, a description of the material, a good-faith statement that the removal was a mistake or misidentification, consent to jurisdiction of a competent court, and your signature. We may restore the material if the complainant does not seek a court order within the period provided by applicable law.
5. Stores and other claims
Stores may take tracks down on their own under Content ID, grievance, or similar procedures. Sonar forwards those demands and is not obliged to dispute them for you. Publisher, label, and neighbouring-rights claims follow the same path as copyright notices.
